I am happy with the mod. Very happy.

Taka s recommended first mod list:

Sway bar.
Odula intake or similar.
Brake pads.

I think it is no worse. I actually think the power opens up after 6000rpm without losing anything at all below 3000rpm. There is no extra noise when you have windows up and turn on the radio. Certainly, Zaku has talked about the moo noise while cruising at 6000 rpm. Well, I have to say it is a very small cow then. I am happy that it is no big noise, since that would indicate a good seal and laminated air flow to the air box.

The ODULA Big Racing RX8 intake funnel is a direct replacement for the standard inlet funnel inside the factory airbox. It increases the inlet cross-section and shapes incoming air before the filter element. The result is a more direct charge path to the Renesis rotary. The OEM airbox, engine cover and surrounding trim stay exactly in place.

ODULA Big Racing RX8 Intake Funnel Features

  • Enlarged inlet opening increases airbox entry volume noticeably over the factory funnel, confirmed by ODULA’s own dyno testing.
  • The funnel geometry helps straighten incoming air before the filter. This reduces turbulence at the entry point for a cleaner charge to the rotary.
  • It fits within the factory OEM airbox, so the original engine cover and bay layout need no modification.
  • Works as a practical first step in a staged intake build. It sits neatly ahead of a panel filter, suction kit or ram air intake upgrade.
  • Finally, ODULA is a genuine Japanese brand with a dedicated Renesis rotary product range. Dyno graphs are available to back the intake volume claim.

For rotary enthusiasts, this RX8 intake funnel makes itself known at low-down throttle first. Air enters the box with less restriction, and the Renesis responds with a more willing feel climbing toward the redline.

Pairing it with a ram air intake sharpens the intake note further. It suits Australian owners who want a real inlet improvement without any visible engine bay conversion.

The natural companion to this funnel is the AUTOEXE Intake Suction Kit, which extends the freer airflow path from the funnel all the way to the throttle body. For exhaust flow to match, the HKS Hi-Power Cat-Back Exhaust with Titanium Tip pairs well.

Keep intake measurement accurate after any airbox work with the GENUINE MAZDA OEM MAF Sensor. Owners researching the Mazda RX8 intake funnel or the ODULA Big Racing Funnel can find further brand detail at ODULA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this intake funnel fit both Series 1 and Series 2 RX8 models?

Yes, the ODULA Big Racing Intake Funnel suits all RX8 models from 2003 through to 2012, covering both Series 1 (2003-2008) and Series 2 (2009-2012) variants.

Does the ODULA funnel replace the entire airbox or just the factory funnel?

It replaces only the OEM inlet funnel inside the existing airbox. The factory airbox, engine cover and surrounding trim all remain in their original positions, so there is no visible engine bay conversion.

What difference will I actually notice after fitting this funnel?

The enlarged inlet opening and smoother funnel geometry reduce turbulence at the intake entry point, which translates to a more direct throttle feel, particularly through the mid-range on the way to the redline. The change is subtle but real, and it makes any further intake improvements more effective.

Is this funnel compatible with a panel filter upgrade at the same time?

Yes. The ODULA funnel sits ahead of the filter element within the factory airbox, so it pairs naturally with a panel filter replacement. Running both together is a logical first stage of an intake refresh without altering the engine bay layout.

Do I need to recalibrate or remap the engine after fitting this funnel?

The funnel works within the factory airbox and does not alter the MAF sensor position or overall intake routing, so a remap is not required for this modification alone. Keeping the MAF sensor in good condition is worthwhile after any airbox work to ensure intake measurement remains accurate.

How difficult is it to install the ODULA Big Racing Intake Funnel?

Installation involves swapping the existing OEM funnel inside the airbox for the ODULA unit. No cutting or permanent modification to the engine bay is required, making it a straightforward job for an owner comfortable with basic air intake work.

Will this funnel affect how the engine bay looks under the bonnet?

No. Because the funnel fits entirely within the factory airbox, the standard engine cover and surrounding trim stay in place. The modification is effectively invisible, which suits owners who want an inlet improvement without changing the under-bonnet appearance.
