I have the oil cooler fitted recently Jarl, with a MazdaSpeed (RHS) oil cooler

Try to get the MazdaSpeed or the US, Hong Kong or Japan spare parts. I suspect they are different but what the hell it is still an oil cooler. Japan does not have oil cooler in the Type S as standard but most people will have that as option. Certainly they mostly opted for the MazdaSpeed version of the oil cooler (btw it looks the same as the other one I have now )

There are many oil cooler available as an aftermarkey option, such as HKS and Fujita engineering, just to name two.

They are very pricey and go over the $1000 mark. So I choose the $600 MazdaSpeed one instead.

What you need is a garage, really. I will recommend changing oil and oil filter at the same time. It does mean a cleaner job. Make sure you take care of the joints and prepare for an oil leak (did have some on my installation). The right oil cooler gets the first of the oil from the central (engine) side and they travel to the left (stock) one before going back to central. There is a bass tube (as shown in the attachement above) to connect the right to the left oil cooler.

Get a quote for $300 installation since it will take someone 6 hours to do (inc changing oil). Make sure they run the car for 10 minutes before putting the front bumper back up, just to see if there are still leaks.

Result is amazing, central console is not hot anymore, well... it is cooler than what it has been. Say the temp in the cup holder used to be like the upper tray of the coffee machine (the area that warms the cup). Now it is like the keyboard of your laptop, still warm but certainly the house key I put in the cup holder will not burn my finger anymore.
